SMI-45 Series Non-Impact Flush Glazed Storefront

Versatile Application The SMI-45 Series is a highly adaptable flush-glazed storefront system designed to perform equally well in both interior and exterior settings. Whether used for partitioning inside a commercial space or as an exterior facade in low-rise buildings, this system offers a clean, traditional aesthetic. It has been rigorously tested to offer flexibility in performance: it can be reinforced with steel for maximum wind load resistance or installed without reinforcement to provide a cost-effective solution for less demanding environments.

Key Design Features

  • Flexible Glazing: Engineered to accept various glass thicknesses, including 1/4″ and 3/8″ tempered glass, making it suitable for diverse architectural needs (especially interior applications).

  • Seamless Aesthetics: The system utilizes a screw spline assembly method that can be unitized, ensuring no fasteners are visible for a smooth, polished look.

  • Efficient Installation: Designed for ease of fabrication and installation, with options for pre-fabrication and segmented radius configurations.

  • Weather Sealing: Features a dry glaze gasket system using durable EPDM gaskets to ensure a tight seal.

Technical Specifications

  • Framing Dimensions: 1.75″ x 4.50″ horizontal and vertical members.

  • Material: Aluminum alloy 6063-T6.

  • Maximum Panel Size: Up to 48″ x 120″ (Standard), with tested configurations up to 30″ x 144″.

  • Performance Ratings (Design Pressure):

    • 1/4″ Tempered (Non-Reinforced): +/- 120 psf

    • 3/8″ Tempered (Reinforced): +/- 120 psf (Primarily for interior use)

  • Compliance & Testing:

    • Approvals: Florida Building Code (FBC).

    • Testing Passed: TAS 201 (Impact), TAS 202 (Static Air Pressure), TAS 203 (Cyclic Wind Pressure).

Options & Add-Ons

  • Pre-Fabrication: Available pre-fabricated to speed up on-site assembly.

  • Radius Designs: Can be segmented to accommodate curved architectural elements.

  • Assembly Style: Screw spline joinery allows for efficient unitized construction.
