Anyone who types Andersen patio doors cost into a search bar wants a number, and the honest answer is that no responsible web page can give you one. A patio door price is built from your opening, not from a brand name. A pair of French doors into a bedroom and a wide multi-slide wall onto a pool deck are both patio doors, and they live in completely different price territory. Any figure quoted before someone looks at your opening is a guess, however official the page looks.

Seven things do most of the work. If a quote is vague on any of them, you cannot fairly compare it with another.
The type of door changes both the product and the labor. A standard two-panel slider is the simplest. French doors swing, so they need room to open and a threshold detail that keeps water out. Multi-slide and folding systems move several large panels, which means heavier hardware, tighter installation tolerances and a bigger structural conversation. Pick the style you want to live with first, then price it.
Width and height drive the price of the door itself, but a wider opening also needs a properly sized header and sound framing around it. If you are turning a window into a door, or a slider into a larger wall of glass, expect carpentry and possibly engineering on top of the product. Ask whether the quote includes that work or leaves it as an open-ended allowance.
Florida requires impact-rated glazing or approved shutters in the wind-borne debris region, which covers a good part of the Tampa Bay area, and your permit office makes the final call for your address. Patio doors are large expanses of glass, so they are among the openings that matter most. An impact-rated door should come with a Florida Product Approval or Miami-Dade approval number, and you can search for it on the Florida Building Commission site. Impact construction adds to the price, but it also spares you from boarding up a whole wall of glass before each storm.
Laminated impact glass, Low-E coatings, tint and built-in blinds each move the number. A west-facing lanai door takes the full afternoon sun, so a Low-E coating is worth discussing for comfort. Ask for the glass specification in writing, because two doors can look identical from the patio and differ completely in the glass.
Vinyl and aluminum are the two materials you will meet most often on Florida patio doors, and they trade price, sightlines and upkeep. Aluminum can be slim and strong, which suits big openings. Vinyl is often more budget-friendly and does not need painting. Whichever you choose, the finish should be meant for Florida sun and salt air, and the quote should say what that finish is. If you have a pool or live close to the water, ask about it by name rather than assuming.
Handles, multi-point locks, hinges and color finishes can add up, and some are priced separately from the door. Settle them at the same time as the door so nothing turns up later as a change order.
The installed price should cover measuring, removal and disposal of the old door, the permit, flashing, sealing and trim. Older openings sometimes reveal rot, water damage or termite damage once the old door comes out. Find out how that is handled before you sign, not after the wall is open.
Two quotes only compare if they describe the same door. Ask every company to put these items in writing.

Not every struggling patio door needs replacing. A slider that sticks may only need clean tracks, new rollers or an adjustment. Replacement starts to make sense when you see fogging between the panes, water coming in at the sill or frame, warped or corroded frames, or locks that no longer secure the door. It also makes sense when you want impact protection you do not have today, because swapping in impact-rated glass is simpler than living with shutters on a wall of glass.
